Abstract

In the contemporary digital age, artificial intelligence (AI) is acknowledged as a pivotal technology capable of substantially aiding the advancement of rural regions in Serbia. It has multiple prospects for revitalizing local economies, enhancing the efficiency of public services, advancing education, and promoting digital inclusion. This paper presents the implementation of AI in the particular context of rural areas in Serbia. It examines how AI-driven technology might be utilized to mitigate regional inequalities, provide employment opportunities, and facilitate the formulation of sustainable development initiatives. Particular emphasis is placed on the domains of agriculture. The paper analyses ethical dilemmas and necessary conditions for the responsible and inclusive deployment of AI solutions, concluding that AI can significantly influence rural development in Serbia if executed through strategic partnerships, education, and the establishment of sustainable digital infrastructure.
